Geneva brings the world to one small city with a huge expat population and the highest number of international organizations in any one city.
Get some cultural insight at Gruyeres Castle and Fondation Pierre Gianadda. Get some historical perspective at Cathedrale de Lausanne and Vieille ville. Change things up with a short trip to Place de la Palud in Lausanne (about 48 minutes away). Your inner history buff will appreciate Paroisse Notre-Dame De Dijon and La Boisserie. Museum-lovers will get to explore Musee des Beaux-Arts de Dijon and Musee de la Vie Bourguignonne. Lyon is a historical city with a vibrant cultural scene as the birthplace of cinema, the silk capital of the globe, and the second biggest Renaissance city following Venice.
Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere and Monastere Royal de Brou will appeal to history buffs. Get a sense of the local culture at Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon and Gallo-Roman Museum of Lyon. Venture out of the city with trips to Montelimar (Musee du Nougat Fabrique Arnaud Soubeyran, L'Artisan Nougatier, & more), Chapelle des Jesuites (in Bourg-en-Bresse) and Cave Dumien - Serrette (in Cornas). There's still lots to do: visit The Presqu'ile, stroll around Parc de la Tete d'Or, wander the streets of Place des Jacobins, and see the interesting displays at Institut & Musee Lumiere.

At the foot of the French Alps where the river Drac joins the Isère (the lion and the serpent), Grenoble offers you tons of winter and summer activities to keep the entire family busy, like hiking, climbing, skiing, and snowboarding, as well as swimming in clean mountain lakes.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Thu): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Chambéry Cathedral, then see the interesting displays at Parc du Chateau de Vizille, and then contemplate the long history of Jardin des Fontaines Petrifiantes. Keep things going the next day: glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour and then take an in-depth tour of Archaeological Museum.

Take a bus from Lyon to Grenoble in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Grenoble when traveling from Lyon in June, with lows around 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel back home.
