Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Let the collections at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna and Okra capture your imagination. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Temppeliaukio Church and Galerie Forsblom. Venture out of the city with trips to Inkoon kirkko (in Inkoo), Nuuksio National Park (in Espoo) and Bellevue Beach (in Hanko). There's lots more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral, take in the spiritual surroundings of Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), take an in-depth tour of Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum, and browse the eclectic array of goods at Old Market Hall.

Tirana, Albania to Helsinki is an approximately 10-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Tirana to Helsinki. When traveling from Tirana in December, plan for cooler days and slightly colder nights in Helsinki: temperatures range from 3°C by day to -3°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Wed) so you can drive to Turku.

Sitting at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's quaintest and most historically rich towns.
Start off your visit on the 26th (Thu): view the masterpieces at Photographic Centre PERI, enjoy the sand and surf at Ispoinen Beach and Sauna, and then browse the different shops at Kauppakeskus Mylly. Here are some ideas for day two: buy something for everyone on your list at Turun Kauppahalli, view the masterpieces at Galleria Joella, then explore the historical opulence of Turku Castle, and finally wander the streets of Naantali Old Town.

Step out of the city life by going to Riihiniemen Uimaranta and Rauhaniemi Beach. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Vitikkala Manor and Haihara Art Centre. Explore Tampere's surroundings by going to Gösta Serlachius Museum, Museum of Art (in Mantta-Vilppula), Laukko Manor (in Vesilahti) and Pori Art Museum (in Pori). On the 31st (Tue), pause for some serene contemplation at Pielpajarvi Wilderness Church, take a stroll around The Sami Cultural Centre Sajos, and then examine the collection at Siida - Sami Museum and Nature Center.

You can do a combination of train and flight from Tampere to Inari in 5.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Tampere in December: high temperatures in Inari hover around -7°C and lows are around -17°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 31st (Tue) early enough to go by car to Akaslompolo.

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Fri): stop by LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier, then identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, then see Santa Claus Office, and finally make a trip to Santa Claus Village.
