You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.

Located on Woethersee, Klagenfurt serves as the capital of the federal state of Carinthia.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Aussichtsturm Pyramidenkogel and Uhrturm. Drive from Budapest to Klagenfurt in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. In August, plan for daily highs up to 30°C, and evening lows to 16°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Sun) early enough to travel to Bled.

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.
Step off the beaten path and head to Vintgar Gorge and Parasailing & Paragliding. Venture out of the city with trips to Soča Valley (in Bovec) and Bohinjsko Jezero (Lake Bohinj & Savica Waterfall).
