A beautiful and romantic city fit for any itinerary, Paris brims with historic associations and remains vastly influential in the realms of culture, art, fashion, food and design.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Eiffel Tower and Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Rouen. Shop till you drop at Rue du Gros-Horloge and Champs-Elysees. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Paris: Rouen (Eglise Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc, Gros-Horloge, &more). There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at Musee d'Orsay, step off the mainland to explore Ile Saint-Louis, see the interesting displays at Atelier des Lumieres, and pause for some serene contemplation at Chapelle Notre Dame de la Medaille Miraculeuse.

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get some cultural insight at Colosseum and Cupola di San Pietro. Pantheon and Piazza Venezia will appeal to history buffs. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica, admire the masterpieces at Galleria Borghese, get engrossed in the history at Le Domus Romane di Palazzo Valentini, and admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain.

You can fly from Paris to Rome in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Plan for somewhat warmer temperatures traveling from Paris in July, with highs in Rome at 37°C and lows at 24°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Mon) early enough to travel to Gibraltar.
