More than 20 million people call Cairo their home and, as soon as you set foot in the sprawling metropolis, it's evident they make it crowded and chaotic, but also exuberant and charming.
Visit Pyramids of Dahshour and Greek Orthodox Church of St. George (Mari Girgis) for their historical value. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Step Pyramid of Djoser and Mosque of Ibn Tulun. Go for a jaunt from Cairo to Giza to see Pyramids of Giza about 32 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: head off the coast to Zamalek (Gezira Island).

Seattle, USA to Cairo is an approximately 18.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of shuttle and flight. You'll lose 10 hours traveling from Seattle to Cairo due to the time zone difference. When traveling from Seattle in September, plan for warmer days and a bit warmer nights in Cairo: temperatures range from 93°F by day to 75°F at night.
