Surfing remains the main reason to take a trip to Tamarindo, as the beachside town is mostly known for its excellent waves.
Kick off your visit on the 5th (Sun): enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Conchal and then stroll through Playa Avellana. On the 6th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: look for gifts at Organic Products by Coco Beauty Spa, kick back and relax at Tamarindo Beach, and then take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports.

Calgary, Canada to Tamarindo is an approximately 12.5-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. The time zone changes from Mountain Standard Time to Central Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Mon) early enough to drive to Monteverde.

Monteverde is all about natural attractions, not surprising for an eco-tourism hotspot known for its cloud forests and rich diversity of animal life.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Tue): look for all kinds of wild species at Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve and then look for gifts at Monteverde Hummingbird Gallery. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: look for all kinds of wild species at Monteverde Frog Pond, then whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, and then enjoy some diversion at Curi Cancha Reserve.
