Surfing remains the main reason to take a trip to Tamarindo, as the beachside town is mostly known for its excellent waves.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Tue): enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Conchal and then enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Avellana. Here are some ideas for day two: enjoy the sand and surf at Tamarindo Beach, stop by Organic Products by Coco Beauty Spa, and then see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

Ecological Sanctuary and Santa Elena Skywalk will appeal to history buffs. Take a break from the city and head to Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve and Curi Cancha Reserve. The adventure continues: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, take in the exciting artwork at Arte Jaguar Gallery, shop like a local with Art House, and identify plant and animal life at Monteverde Frog Pond.

The rainforest meets the sea at Manuel Antonio National Park, a small but scenic natural preserve on the west coast of Costa Rica.

A trip to San Jose, the capital, commercial center, and cultural hub of Costa Rica, gives you a chance to experience the lively atmosphere and rich cultural past of this vibrant country.
On the 9th (Tue), admire the masterpieces at Museo de Arte Costarricense, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Our Lady of the Angels Basilica (Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles), then pause for some serene contemplation at Santiago Apostol Parish Ruins, then steep yourself in history at Ruins of the Church of Carthage, and finally view the masterpieces at Galeria Namu.
