Spain’s "golden coast," the Costa Dorada boasts long beaches of fine sand and secluded coves looking out across the Mediterranean Sea. The birthplace of one of the world’s most celebrated architects, Antoni Gaudí, its varied landscapes of rugged cliffs and lush rolling hills remain an inspiration for artists today. Mostly geared towards families on vacation, the region offers a variety of kid-friendly attractions, including theme parks, promenades, theaters, shops, golf courses, and restaurants near the coast. Deeper inland, enjoy numerous things to do outdoors, including hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The area is also noted for several World Heritage Sites, archeological remnants of the mighty Roman Empire.
