Cartagena

City of Heroes

The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
Escape the urban bustle at Playa Blanca and Scuba & Snorkeling. Your inner history buff will appreciate Walled City of Cartagena and Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas. Step out of Cartagena to go to Isla Baru and see Aviario Nacional de Colombia, which is approximately 50 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: take an in-depth tour of Museo del Oro Zenu, see the interesting displays at Museo Historico de Cartagena de Indias, steep yourself in history at Torre del Reloj, and don't miss a visit to Plaza Bolivar.

If you are flying in from Argentina, the closest major aiports are Rafael Nuñez International Airport and Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport. In March, daily temperatures in Cartagena can reach 37°C, while at night they dip to 29°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
