Founded over 2,000 years ago, Vannes is a vacation harbor town with beaches, shopping, museums, and gardens, as well as interesting medieval city gates and timber-framed houses scattered throughout its Old Town.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Vannes: Quiberon (Cote Sauvage & Pointe du Conguel), Carnac (Dolmens de Mane Kerioned & Carnac stones) and Parc Animalier et Botanique de Branfere (in Le Guerno). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Centre Historique de Vannes, step into the grandiose world of Chateau de Suscinio, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Chapelle Sainte-Helene, and examine the collection at Musee des Chateaux en Allumettes.

And it doesn't end there: stroll around Parc du Thabor, pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise Anglicane Saint Bartholomew, enjoy the sea views from Cap Fréhel, and make a trip to Fort La Latte.
