The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Schonbrunn Palace and St. Stephen's Cathedral. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Ringstrasse and Wachau Valley. When in Vienna, make a side trip to see Burgruine Duernstein in Durnstein, approximately Durnstein away. There's lots more to do: browse the exhibits of Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof), have some family-friendly fun at Time Travel Vienna, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Chapel of St. Virgil, and explore the world behind art at Belvedere Palace.
