One of the world's most ancient cities, Athens remains Europe's undisputed historical and cultural capital.
Step out of the city life by going to Glyfada Beach and Mount Lycabettus. Get some historical perspective at Acropolis of Athens and Ancient Agora of Athens. There's lots more to do: take an in-depth tour of Acropolis Museum, explore the world behind art at Benaki Museum, stop by Plaka, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Temple of Hephaestus.

Located on Santorini's southwestern coastline, the small village of Akrotiri sits just a short walk from one of Europe's most significant Bronze Age archaeological sites.
You'll get in some beach time at Perissa Black Sand Beach and Perivolos. Step out of the city life by going to Kamari Beach and Caldera Beach. Step out of Akrotiri with an excursion to Vourvoulos Beach in Vourvoulos--about 46 minutes away. There's lots more to do: delve into the distant past at Akrotiri, pause for some serene contemplation at Ekklisia Panagia Platsani, stroll through Red Beach, and stop by Eponymo.

Fly from Athens to Akrotiri in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and ferry; or ride a ferry. While traveling from Athens, expect slightly colder days and about the same nights in Akrotiri, ranging from highs of 86°F to lows of 74°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Hersonissos.

Wholeheartedly dedicated to tourism, Hersonissos remains best known for its vibrant nightlife, its bars and clubs attracting partygoers from around the world.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Wed): explore the ancient world of The Palace of Knossos and then get engrossed in the history at Heraklion Archaeological Museum. On your second day here, enjoy the sand and surf at Stalis Beach, then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Voulismeni, and then step off the mainland to explore Fortress Spinalonga.

You can do a combination of ferry and taxi from Akrotiri to Hersonissos in 3 hours. Traveling from Akrotiri in July, plan for a bit cooler nights in Hersonissos, with lows around 69°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Chania Town.

The place where Cretan and Venetian cultures merged in the 13th century, Chania Town attracts throngs of tourists with its well-preserved medieval harbor.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Fri): go for a stroll along the water at Old Venetian Harbor and then kick back and relax at Balos Lagoon. On the 8th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in breathtaking views at Samaria Gorge National Park.
