Pitlochry is a burgh in the county of Perthshire in Scotland, lying on the River Tummel. Kick off your visit on the 8th (Mon): sample the fine beverages at Edradour Distillery, step into the grandiose world of Blair Castle and Hercules Gardens, and then contemplate the long history of Greenland Stone Circle. Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds and Fort Augustus Abbey will appeal to history buffs. Take a break from the city and head to Glen Coe and Nevis Range Mountain Resort. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Fort William: Glenfinnan Viaduct (in Glenfinnan) and McCaig's Tower (in Oban).
