Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
Step out of the city life by going to Cairngorm Mountain and Rogie Falls. Shop till you drop at Castle Gallery and Leakey's Second-hand Bookshop. And it doesn't end there: witness the site of a historic battle at Culloden Battlefield, see the interesting displays at The Highlanders' Museum (Queen's Own Highlanders Collection), pause for some serene contemplation at St Mary's Catholic Church, and contemplate the long history of Beauly Priory.

Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Kick off your visit on the 18th (Sat): explore the activities along Loch Shiel, take in the awesome beauty at Nevis Range Mountain Resort, then take in the dramatic scenery at Steall Waterfall, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Ben Nevis, and finally pause for some photo ops at Peace Memorial.
