Along Portugal's southern Algarve region sits Albufeira, a city boasting 20 beaches for visitors to choose from.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Thu): stroll through Falesia Beach, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja de Sao Lourenco de Almancil, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Praia da Senhora da Rocha. Getting from Lisbon to Albufeira by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. In July, daily temperatures in Albufeira can reach 34°C, while at night they dip to 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Sagres.

Though the town of Sagres has roots in the Portuguese Age of Discovery, it is better known by visitors as a peaceful, rugged resort spot with great surfing beaches.
On the 13th (Sat), enjoy the sand and surf at Telheiro Beach, see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour, then get outside with Praia do Beliche, and finally make a trip to Cape Saint Vincent. On the 14th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: tour the pleasant surroundings at Praia Da Amoreira, step into the grandiose world of Castelo de Aljezur, then kick back and relax at Bordeira Beach, and finally kick back and relax at Praia da Cordoama.

Getting from Sagres to Coimbra by car takes about 5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of bus and train. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Sagres in July, with highs in Coimbra at 28°C and lows at 18°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Tue) so you can go by car to Porto.

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Dedicate the 18th (Thu) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. And it doesn't end there: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, take a stroll around Palacio da Bolsa, go for a stroll along the water at Cais da Ribeira, and see where the action happens at Estadio do Dragao.
