Oita

The gateway to a wealth of dynamic landscapes and some of the country's most atmospheric religious and cultural sites, Oita, in touristic terms, acts primarily as a transport hub.
Popular historic sites such as Usajingu Shrine and Amano Yasugawara are in your itinerary. Do some cultural sightseeing at Oita Prefectural Art Museum and Kumano Magaibutsu. Venture out of the city with trips to Beppu (Hells of Beppu, Jigokumushikobo Kannawa, &more), Usuki (Usuki Sekibutsu, Hokyo Into, &more) and Saiki (Motozaru Beach, Hatozu Beach, &more). There's still lots to do: shop like a local with JR Oita City, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Futagoji Temple, meet the residents at Oita Marine Palace Aquarium Umitamago, and browse the different shops at Amu Plaza Oita.

If you are flying in from Mongolia, the closest major aiports are Fukuoka Airport, Hiroshima Airport and Kagoshima Airport. Expect a daytime high around 32°C in July, and nighttime lows around 28°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
