Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Get in touch with nature at River Rafting & Tubing and Praia da Costa Nova. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Praia da Barra and Montanha- Parque da Penha. Get out of town with these interesting Porto side-trips: Reserva Natural das Dunas de Sao Jacinto (in Sao Jacinto), BioRia (in Estarreja) and Pateira de Fermentelos (in Agueda). And it doesn't end there: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, make a trip to Ribeira Square, stroll around Parque Infante D. Pedro, and pause for some serene contemplation at Convento de Santo Antonio Church.
