Johannesburg, South Africa to Ishigaki is an approximately 22-hour combination of train and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 7 hours traveling from Johannesburg to Ishigaki. A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Start off your visit on the 26th (Thu): enjoy the sand and surf at Sunayama Beach, then take in the views from Irabu Bridge, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Yonaha Maehama Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: snap pictures at Kurima Bridge, then visit a coastal fixture at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse, then make a trip to East Henna Cape, and finally snap pictures at Ikema Ohashi Bridge.

Traveling by combination of flight and taxi from Ishigaki to Miyakojima takes an hour. In December in Miyakojima, expect temperatures between 25°C during the day and 20°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Fri) early enough to travel to Ise.

A spiritual center of Shintoism, Ise stands as a traditional city where visitors can see the roots of Japanese culture in a number of well-preserved natural and historic sites.
On the 28th (Sat), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sarutahiko Shrine, take in the spiritual surroundings of Aramatsurinomiya, make a trip to Hinjitsukan, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Yamato-hime Shrine, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tsukiyominomiya, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Ise Shrine Geku.

Do a combination of taxi, flight, and train from Miyakojima to Ise in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi, flight, bus, and train. Traveling from Miyakojima in December, you will find days in Ise are colder (11°C), and nights are little chillier (9°C). Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sat) so you can go by car to Kanazawa.

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
Popular historic sites such as Ainokura Gassho Community and Wada House are in your itinerary. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kanda house and Maruoka Castle. Change things up with these side-trips from Kanazawa: Natadera Temple (in Komatsu), Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple (in Eiheiji-cho) and Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum (in Katsuyama). You can drive from Ise to Kanazawa in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. Expect slightly colder evenings in Kanazawa when traveling from Ise in December, with lows around 3°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Tue) so you can go by car to Matsue.
