Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Akihabara as well as Sanrio Puroland. Explore hidden gems such as Yanaka and Nihonbashi Bridge. Head to Ginza Itoya Hontren and Diver City Tokyo Plazafor plenty of shopping. There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Ueno, shop like a local with Takeshita Street, and don't miss a visit to Chidorigafuchi.

If you are flying in from Singapore, the closest major airports are Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport and Hyakuri Airport. In April in Tokyo, expect temperatures between 22°C during the day and 12°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Wed) so you can catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Kick off your visit on the 30th (Thu): wander the streets of Gion, get a taste of the local shopping with Nishiki Market Shopping District, and then stop by Ippodo Tea Kyoto. Here are some ideas for day two: identify plant and animal life at Nango Suisan Center, brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Suntory Yamazaki Distillery, then steep yourself in history at Ninna-ji Temple, and finally look for all kinds of wild species at Yase Momiji no Komichi.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In April, plan for daily highs up to 22°C, and evening lows to 11°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Fri) early enough to catch the train to Nara.

On the 2nd (Sat), indulge your thirst for a good beer at Harushika Brewery, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Nigatsu-do Temple, then identify plant and animal life at Nara Park, and finally soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens. Kick off your visit on the 4th (Mon): contemplate the long history of Kinpusenji Temple, then look for all kinds of wild species at Hirohashibairin, then look for gifts at Tower Knives Osaka, and finally take a stroll through Dotonbori. On the 5th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: don't miss a visit to Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street, then ponder the world of politics at Mint Museum, and then indulge in some culinary diversions at a local gastronomic tour.

Getting from Nara to Osaka by train takes about an hour. Other options: drive. Traveling from Nara in May, Osaka is little chillier at night with lows of 18°C. On the 6th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Kobe.

Walkable, small, and aesthetically charming, Kobe has served as Japan's first and premier international trading outpost since opening to trade with China in the mid-19th century.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park and Onsen Resorts. Shop till you drop at Kobe Harborland and Nankinmachi (Kobe Chinatown). Step out of Kobe to go to Awaji and see Hokudan Earthquake Memorial Park, which is approximately 52 minutes away. There's much more to do: admire the sheer force of Nunobiki Falls (Nunobiki-No-Taki), indulge your thirst for a good beer at Kirin Beer Kobe Factory, look for gifts at Moriya Shop, and stroll around Shukugawa Park.

Kobe is very close to Osaka. While traveling from Osaka, expect a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Kobe, ranging from highs of 25°C to lows of 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Sat) to allow time to take a train back home.
