Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Kumamoto is an approximately 11- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Kumamoto due to the time zone difference. In April, Kumamoto is colder than Kuala Lumpur - with highs of 23°C and lows of 12°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Yufu.

Discover widely renowned onsens on a tour of Yufu, a tranquil town overlooked by a two-peaked mountain.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Yufuin Onsen. On the 25th (Sat), contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Kinrin, stop by Wahaha, take in the exciting artwork at Homme Blue Cafe, wander the streets of Yunotsubo Kaido, then soak in some Japanese tradition at Yufuin Onsen, and finally examine the collection at Yufuin Stained Glas Museum. Here are some ideas for day two: explore the activities along Hakusui Dam, delve into the distant past at Nanatsumori Ancient Tumulus, stroll around Nyuta Nakashima Park, then steep yourself in history at Oka Castle Ruins, and finally steep yourself in history at Fukoji Temple Cliff-Carved Budda.

Drive from Kumamoto to Yufu in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Traveling from Kumamoto in April, expect nights in Yufu to be about the same, around 13°C, while days are little chillier, around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Beppu.

The resort town of Beppu puts the geothermal nature of the region to good use.
On the 27th (Mon), indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens, stop by Angel Kimono Rental Beppu, then browse the different shops at JR Oita City, and finally browse the different shops at Amu Plaza Oita. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 28th (Tue): get a taste of the local shopping with Beppu City Traditional Bamboo Crafts Center, take in the natural beauty of Hells of Beppu, witness a stunning natural landmark at Kamado Jigoku, then learn about winemaking at Ajimu Budoushu Koubou, then don't miss a visit to Usajingu Shrine, and finally explore the wide array of goods at Tokiwa Honten.

You can drive from Yufu to Beppu in an hour. Other options are to take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. In April in Beppu, expect temperatures between 20°C during the day and 13°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Tue) to allow time to take a train to Hiroshima.

You can take a train from Beppu to Hiroshima in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry. In April, daytime highs in Hiroshima are 22°C, while nighttime lows are 13°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Fri) early enough to catch the train to Fukuoka.

The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
For shopping fun, head to Tenjin Underground Shopping Center or Baien. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Glover Garden and Kokura Castle. Explore Fukuoka's surroundings by going to Dazaifu Tenman-gu (in Dazaifu), Nagasaki (Takashima Steamlined Gun, Shinchi Chinatown, &more) and Kurume (Kyoho Winery & Kurume World Camellia Museum). Getting from Hiroshima to Fukuoka by train takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 28°C in May, and nighttime lows around 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 5th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
