The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Toji. Your inner history buff will appreciate Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Nijo Castle. When in Kyoto, make a side trip to see Todai-ji Temple in Nara, approximately Nara away. There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, contemplate the long history of Osaka Castle, and take a stroll through Gion.

Getting from Yakushima-cho to Kyoto by flight takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of ferry and train; or do a combination of ferry, bus, and train. Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
On the 11th (Thu), snap pictures at Kurima Bridge, kick back and relax at Aragusuku Beach, paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, head outdoors with Yonaha Maehama Beach, thensnap pictures at Irabu Ohashi, and finally explore the gorgeous colors at Yabiji.
