The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
On the 17th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: step into the grandiose world of Himeji Castle, then contemplate the long history of Yoneda Taishiji Temple, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Takamikura, and finally head outdoors with Shimmaiko Beach.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Dotombori District. Appreciate the collections at Todaiji Temple Cultural Center and Asahiyaki. Change things up with a short trip to Nara Park in Nara (about 1h 10 min away). And it doesn't end there: visit Gion, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle, and don't miss a visit to Nijo Castle.

Getting from Hiroshima to Kyoto by train takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In September, plan for daily highs up to 33°C, and evening lows to 23°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sun) early enough to catch the train to Numazu.

Visit Otago Beach and Ita Beach for some beach relaxation. Do some cultural sightseeing at Mount Fuji and The Hakone Open-Air Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Numazu side-trips: Gotemba Premium Outlets (in Gotemba), Izu (Odoi Beach & Wasabi Fields of Ikadaba) and Lake Kawaguchi (in Fujikawaguchiko-machi). Keep things going the next day: admire the landmark architecture of Tokyo Tower, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Senso-ji Temple, admire the masterpieces at Tokyo National Museum, then stop by Akihabara, and finally explore the world behind art at Ghibli Museum Mitaka.
