Step out of Tokyo with an excursion to Tokyo DisneySea in Maihama--about 30 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: don't miss a visit to Meiji Jingu Shrine, wander the streets of Odaiba, tour the pleasant surroundings at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, and admire the masterpieces at Tokyo National Museum.

Cairo, Egypt to Tokyo is an approximately 16.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. You'll lose 7 hours traveling from Cairo to Tokyo due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Cairo in January, things will get a bit cooler in Tokyo: highs are around 11°C and lows about 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Thu) to allow enough time to take a train to Yokohama.

Once a small fishing town, Yokohama was one of the first ports to welcome foreign trade in the 19th century, after which it grew into Japan's second largest city and a bustling metropolis.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Fri): step off the mainland to explore Enoshima Island, contemplate the long history of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kōtoku-in, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hase-dera Temple. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Yokohama Silk Museum, wander the streets of Yokohama Chinatown, then stroll through Sankeien Gardens, then admire the striking features of Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Sojiji.

Yokohama is very close to Tokyo. In January, plan for daily highs up to 11°C, and evening lows to 3°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Sat) early enough to travel to Tokushima.

Fly from Yokohama to Tokushima in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or drive. In January, plan for daily highs up to 9°C, and evening lows to 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Sun) to allow time to take a train to Takamatsu.

Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Matsuyama.
