Start off your visit on the 2nd (Wed): savor the flavors at Food & Drink, wander the streets of Dotombori District, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, and finally get a taste of the local shopping with Hankyu Umeda Honten. On your second day here, get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan, then take in panoramic vistas at Harukas 300 Observation Deck, and then admire the masterpieces at Abeno Harukas Art Museum.

Kurama, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kamigamo Shrine, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Shimogamo Jinja, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Kamogawa River. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 5th (Sat): contemplate the long history of Ishibe Alley, make a trip to Sannenzaka Ninenzaka, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kennin-ji Temple, and finally relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

Traveling by train from Osaka to Kyoto takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. September in Kyoto sees daily highs of 33°C and lows of 23°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Sat) early enough to travel to Sapporo.

A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Mt. Yotei and Kokuei Takino Suzuran Hillside National Park. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sapporo: Hokkaido Backcountry Club (in Niseko-cho), Kutchan-cho (Mishima's Shibazakura Garden & Rhythm Base, Hirafu) and Fukidashi Park (in Kyogoku-cho). There's still lots to do: fly down the slopes at Okurayama Lookout, stroll around Odori Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari Shrine, and take in panoramic vistas at Mt. Moiwa Peak Observatory.

Fly from Kyoto to Sapporo in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of bus and train. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Kyoto in September, with highs in Sapporo at 23°C and lows at 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 9th (Wed) to allow time for travel back home.
