Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
On the 25th (Sun), enjoy the sand and surf at Yonehara Beach, enjoy the sea views from Cape Hirakubozaki, and then take in panoramic vistas at Tamatorizaki Observatory. Here are some ideas for day two: stroll around Kabira Park, stroll around Banna Park, then take in the waterfront at Nishi Pier, and finally stroll through Kondoi Beach.

Kick off your visit on the 29th (Thu): enjoy the sand and surf at Sunayama Beach, then take in the views from Irabu Bridge, then snap pictures at Kurima Bridge, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Yonaha Maehama Beach. Traveling by ferry from Iriomote-jima to Miyakojima takes 4 hours. In August in Miyakojima, expect temperatures between 89°F during the day and 80°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Fri) so you can travel to Kyoto.

Kick off your visit on the 31st (Sat): contemplate the long history of Tofuku-ji Temple, then steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and then steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Traveling by combination of flight and taxi from Kyoto to Shari-cho takes 7.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of car and ferry. Traveling from Kyoto in September, expect Shari-cho to be a bit cooler, temps between 67°F and 58°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Tokyo.
