Long known as one of the most important urban centers of medieval Germany, Magdeburg today boasts both an impressive historical core and a booming tech industry.
Kids will enjoy Marienberg and Tangermunder Tor. Venture out of the city with trips to Blankenburg (Barocke Schlossgaerten & The Devil's Wall), Erzgrube Buchenberg (in Elbingerode) and Ostdeutsches Fahrzeug Museum (in Benneckenstein).
