Built on a desolate swamp as a showcase capital of Imperial Russia, this grand city has certainly lived up to the expectations of its founder, Tsar Peter the Great.
Start off your visit on the 2nd (Wed): contemplate the long history of Palace Square (Dvortsovaya Ploshchad) and then admire the masterpieces at The State Hermitage Museum. On the 3rd (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at The Great Mosque of St. Petersburg, then pause for some serene contemplation at Savior on the Spilled Blood, then examine the collection at Saint Isaac's Cathedral, and finally examine the collection at Russian Museum.

Shanghai, China to St. Petersburg is an approximately 15-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from China Standard Time to Moscow Standard Time, which is usually a -5 hour difference.
