The main town and capital of Chile's Easter Island, Hanga Roa serves as a base for most visitors to the island, with all explorations of Easter Island and its famous moai monoliths beginning here.
Rano Raraku and Ahu Tongariki will appeal to history buffs. Get some cultural insight at Rapa Nui National Park and Ahu Nau Nau. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Anakena Beach, get impressive views of Rano Kau, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Rapa Nui.
