Nearly destroyed by war during the 1990s, the riverside city of Sarajevo now serves as one of the region's major educational, cultural, and commercial hubs.
Get some cultural insight at Bascarsija and Galerija 11/07/95. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Sebilj Brunnen (Fountain) and Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque. Change things up with a short trip to River Rafting & Tubing in Konjic (about 1h 15 min away). There's lots more to do: examine the collection at War Childhood Museum, take a stroll through Ferhadija Pedestrian Street, get engrossed in the history at History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and steep yourself in history at Old Sarajevo Clock Tower.
