Emptiness surrounds the desert outpost of Uyuni, the gateway to the world's largest salt flats.
Go for a jaunt from Uyuni to Potosi to see Pueblo Pulacayo about 40 minutes away. The adventure continues: explore the striking landscape at Salar de Uyuni, head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, see the interesting displays at Train Cemetery, and don't miss a visit to Plaza Arce.

Winnipeg, Canada to Uyuni is an approximately 29-hour combination of car and flight. You can also fly. Traveling from Winnipeg to Uyuni, you'll lose 2 hours due to the time zone difference. In January, Uyuni is much hotter than Winnipeg - with highs of 15°C and lows of 13°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 22nd (Fri) early enough to travel to Sucre.

The constitutional capital of Bolivia, Sucre has a well-preserved historic center, with many buildings dating back to the city's founding in the 16th century.
On the 23rd (Sat), make a trip to Cal Orck'o, then admire the masterpieces at Museum of Indigenous Art ASUR, then get engrossed in the history at House of Liberty Museum - Casa de la Libertad, and finally admire the striking features of Church of San Felipe Neri (Oratorio de San Felipe de Neri). On the 24th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the spiritual surroundings of La Recoleta, make a trip to Universidad de San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca, stop by Inca Pallay Shop, then examine the collection at Museo del Tesoro, and finally make a trip to Plaza 25 de Mayo.

Getting from Uyuni to Sucre by flight takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Uyuni in January, expect nights in Sucre to be about the same, around 11°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Sun) so you can travel to La Paz.

Take a moment to catch your breath as you commence your holiday in La Paz.
Spend the 26th (Tue) exploring the striking scenery along WMDR Yungas Road. There's lots more to do: get outside with Outdoor Activities, take in the local highlights with Walking tours, make a trip to Mercado de Las Brujas, and stop by Mistura - Manifestacion Creativa.

You can fly from Sucre to La Paz in 3 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Sucre in January, things will get slightly colder in La Paz: highs are around 17°C and lows about 4°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Thu) so you can drive to Tiwanaku.

Tiwanaku

Tiwanaku is a Pre-Columbian archaeological site in western Bolivia.The site was first recorded in written history by Spanish conquistador Pedro Cieza de León. Start off your visit on the 29th (Fri): explore the ancient world of Puma Punku, then don't miss a visit to Puerta del Sol, and then explore the ancient world of Tiwanaku.

Traveling by car from La Paz to Tiwanaku takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In January, daily temperatures in Tiwanaku can reach 17°C, while at night they dip to 4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 29th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Copacabana.

Copacabana

The town of Copacabana represents the largest Bolivian settlement on the shore of Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in the continent.
On the 30th (Sat), take in the spiritual surroundings of Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana and then explore the activities along Lake Titicaca. On your second day here, step off the mainland to explore Isla De La Luna and then hike along Isla del Sol.

Drive from Tiwanaku to Copacabana in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
