In August, Badlands National Park is somewhat warmer than Jackson Hole - with highs of 87°F and lows of 58°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 25th (Tue) so you can go by car to Rapid City.

On the 26th (Wed), have some family-friendly fun at Cosmos Mystery Area, then pause for some photo ops at Mount Rushmore National Memorial, then look for all kinds of wild species at Bear Country USA, and finally explore the stunning scenery at Canyon Lake Park. On your second day here, see the interesting displays at America's Founding Fathers Exhibit, examine the collection at Museum of Geology, then get outside with Main Street Square, and finally take a stroll through Downtown Rapid City.

Getting from Badlands National Park to Rapid City by car takes about an hour. Other options: take a bus. August in Rapid City sees daily highs of 83°F and lows of 60°F at night. On the 28th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
