Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Kick off your visit on the 26th (Wed): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Ben Nevis, take in the dramatic scenery at Steall Waterfall, thentake your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Nevis Range Mountain Resort, and finally contemplate the long history of Glenfinnan Viaduct. Keep things going the next day: cruise along Morar Beach and then look for all kinds of wild species at Ariundle Oakwood National Nature Reserve.
