The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
On the 29th (Mon), get engrossed in the history at Kyoto Museum of Crafts and Design, contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and then make a trip to Gion. On the 30th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, then examine the collection at Todaiji Temple Cultural Center, and then walk around Nara Park.

Fly from Toyooka to Kyoto in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. In July in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 89°F during the day and 76°F at night. On the 31st (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
