Kandy

Nestled between mountains in inland Sri Lanka, Kandy proudly bears its World Heritage Site designation while remaining culturally independent and colorfully picturesque.
Head to Prestige Selections - Batiks, Handicrafts and Gift Items and Sriya & Daya Curio Shopfor some retail therapy. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kandy: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (in Pinnawala) and See Lanka Travels (in Waikkal). There's still lots to do: admire the natural beauty at Royal Botanical Gardens, take in the spiritual surroundings of Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, make a trip to Kandy view point, and contemplate the waterfront views at Kandy Lake.

Colombo to Kandy is an approximately 3-hour combination of taxi and flight. You can also take a train; or drive. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Wed) to allow time to travel to Hikkaduwa.

One of the most scenic beach resorts in Sri Lanka, Hikkaduwa features a number of long white sand beaches with palm trees and gentle waves.
Shop till you drop at Cara Jewellers and Saffron Robes. Change things up with these side-trips from Hikkaduwa: Galle (EXOTIC ROOTS, Galle Fort, &more).
