One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Everland and Banpo Hangang Park. There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Trickeye Museum Seoul, pause for some photo ops at Jogyesa Temple, make a trip to Gwanghwamun Gate, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bongeunsa Temple.

Lisbon, Portugal to Seoul is an approximately 19-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Lisbon to Seoul is 9 hours. Expect little chillier weather when traveling from Lisbon in September: highs in Seoul hover around 26°C, while lows dip to 25°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Sokcho.

Start off your visit on the 13th (Fri): get engrossed in the history at Sokcho City Museum & Displaced Civilians Folk Village, trek along Ulsanbawi Rock, then contemplate the long history of Gwongeumseong Fortress, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Naksansa Temple.

Drive from Seoul to Sokcho in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Seoul in September, Sokcho is a bit cooler at night with lows of 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Fri) so you can drive to Gyeongju.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Kick off your visit on the 14th (Sat): steep yourself in history at Yangdong Folk Village, then contemplate the long history of Cheonmachong Tomb, then examine the collection at Gyeongju National Museum, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Anapji Pond.

Getting from Sokcho to Gyeongju by car takes about 4 hours. Other options: do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. In September, plan for daily highs up to 25°C, and evening lows to 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) early enough to drive to Busan.

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Sun): kick back and relax at Gwangalli Beach, don't miss a visit to Gwangandaegyo Bridge, then admire the local landmark of Busan Station Plaza, then get great views at Taejongdae, and finally snap pictures at Busandaegyo Bridge. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 16th (Mon): explore the different monuments and memorials at UN Memorial Cemetery, walk around Dongbaekseom Island, then walk around APEC Naru Park, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Beomeosa Temple.

You can drive from Gyeongju to Busan in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. When traveling from Gyeongju in September, plan for somewhat warmer days in Busan, with highs around 30°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 21°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Mon) early enough to drive to Suncheon.

Traveling by car from Busan to Suncheon takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Traveling from Busan in September, expect little chillier with lows of 18°C in Suncheon. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Tue) early enough to travel to Jeju.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Hyeopjae Beach and Spirited Garden. Get out of town with these interesting Jeju side-trips: Seogwipo (Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff & Jeongbang Waterfall). You can fly from Suncheon to Jeju in 2.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of taxi and ferry; or ride a ferry. Traveling from Suncheon in September, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit warmer in Jeju, with lows of 26°C. On the 21st (Sat), you'll have the morning to explore before heading back home.
