The landscape surrounding Catania, a medieval city on Sicily's eastern coast, is dominated by Mount Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Catania: Villa Romana del Casale (in Piazza Armerina), Syracuse (Ortigia, Duomo di Siracusa, &more) and Isola Bella (in Taormina).
