Laval is a town in western France, about 300km west-southwest of Paris, and the capital of the Mayenne department. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Chateau de Laval (Laval's Castle) and Eglise des Cordeliers. Attractions like Jardin de la Perrine and Room Escape Games make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting Laval side-trips: Chateau de Mortiercrolles (in Saint-Quentin-les-Anges), Le Refuge de l'Arche (in Chateau-Gontier) and Parc de Loisirs de la Colmont (in Gorron). There's still lots to do: look for gifts at L'Epicerie de Fontaine Daniel, view the masterpieces at Chateau de Sainte-Suzanne, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Eglise Saint Venerand, and make a trip to Basilique Notre-Dame d'Avesnieres.

Bournemouth, UK to Laval is an approximately 8-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and car. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Bournemouth to Laval. Traveling from Bournemouth in July, you will find days in Laval are a bit warmer (30°C), and nights are about the same (17°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Fri) to allow enough time to travel back home.
