Venture out of the city with trips to Tateriko Shrine (in Nosegawa-mura) and Mt. Koya (in Koya-cho). There's still lots to do: get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, take a stroll through Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street, and take in panoramic vistas at Kuchu Teien Observatory.

Singapore, Singapore to Osaka is an approximately 10-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of flight, bus, and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Singapore to Osaka. In December, Osaka is cooler than Singapore - with highs of 13°C and lows of 4°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Sat) early enough to catch the train to Nara.

The country's first established capital, Nara houses some of the most storied buildings and natural attractions in Japan, with eight World Heritage Sites in total.
Kick off your visit on the 8th (Sun): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kasuga Grand Shrine, stroll around Nara Park, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Nigatsu-do Temple, then steep yourself in history at Todai-ji Temple, and finally engage your brain at The Kid's Science Museum of Photons. Traveling by train from Osaka to Nara takes an hour. Alternatively, you can drive. In December in Nara, expect temperatures between 13°C during the day and 6°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Mon) to allow time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
On the 10th (Tue), examine the collection at Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum, then contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and then contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Keep things going the next day: explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, then get to know the resident critters at Monkey Park Iwatayama, and then take a stroll through Gion.

Kick off your visit on the 12th (Thu): step into the grandiose world of Himeji Castle, then find something for the whole family at Taiyo Park, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Otokoyama Haisuiike Park.
