Drive from Nozawaonsen-mura to Kyoto in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and flight. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Nozawaonsen-mura in January: high temperatures in Kyoto hover around 10°C and lows are around 1°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Thu) early enough to catch the train to Osaka.

Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims and Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture will appeal to museum buffs. Step off the beaten path and head to Yutoku Inari Shrine and The Confucian Temple, the Chinese Museum of Successive Generations.
