An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
On the 30th (Mon), look for gifts at Lacquer Ware Nosaku. On your second day here, see the interesting displays at Ishikawa Prefectural Museum for Traditional Products and Crafts, then see the interesting displays at D. T. Suzuki Museum, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple, and finally examine the collection at Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum.

Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Nijo Castle and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Do your shopping at Dotonbori and Nishiki Market. Next up on the itinerary: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, pick up a one of a kind souvenir at Maiko Antiques Kyoto, wander the streets of Gion, and make a trip to Eikando Zenrinji Temple.

You can take a train from Kanazawa to Kyoto in 2.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In October in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 74°F during the day and 60°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a train to Hiroshima.

Traveling by train from Kyoto to Hiroshima takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In October in Hiroshima, expect temperatures between 73°F during the day and 61°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Mon) to allow time to drive to Matsue.
