The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
On the 11th (Wed), take in nature's colorful creations at Koko-en Garden, don't miss a visit to Himeji Castle, then don't miss a visit to Shoshazan Engyoji, and finally take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Takamikura.

Take a train from Hiroshima to Himeji in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. In March, plan for daily highs up to 14°C, and evening lows to 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Wed) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
When in Kyoto, make a side trip to see Universal Studios Japan in Konohana, approximately 1h 15 min away. The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, examine the collection at Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan, and take a stroll through Gion.

You can take a train from Himeji to Kyoto in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In March, plan for daily highs up to 16°C, and evening lows to 5°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) early enough to catch the train to Kanazawa.

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Sun): steep yourself in history at Higashichaya Old Town, make a trip to Omicho Market, admire the natural beauty at Kenrokuen Garden, then steep yourself in history at Kanazawa Castle, then don't miss a visit to Seisonkaku Villa, and finally see the interesting displays at Ishikawa Prefectural Museum for Traditional Products and Crafts. On the next day, admire the verdant scenery at Aratama Valley, walk around Ishikawa Jumoku Park, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ninja Temple, then make a trip to Kanazawa Station, and finally contemplate the long history of Nomura Family Samurai House.
