The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Start off your visit on the 3rd (Tue): go for a walk through Ohori Park, take in panoramic vistas at Fukuoka Tower, take in the spiritual surroundings of Dazaifu Tenman-gu, enjoy breathtaking views from Komenoyama Obsevatory, thencontemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kushida Shrine, and finally buy something for everyone on your list at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center.
