Considered one of the most cosmopolitan and westernized cities in Iraq, vibrant Sulaymaniyah boasts a strong cultural scene with a good selection of museums and educational institutions.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Tue): look for all kinds of wild species at Dukan lake, enjoy some diversion at Chavi Land, and then see the interesting displays at Amnasuraka Museum. On your second day here, browse the different shops at City Star Mall, get engrossed in the history at Slemani Museum, and then look for gifts at Rand Gallery.

It's quite possible that a Baghdad holiday isn't on your list of things to do, but despite the city's reputation for turmoil, it still has plenty to offer to a daring traveler.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sat): see the interesting displays at The Iraq Museum, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Armenian Orthodox Church - St Gregory The Illuminator, then appreciate the history behind Al-Mutanabbi Statue, and finally get some fabulous bargains at Babylon Mall. On the next day, admire nature's wide array of creatures at Zawraa Park.

Traveling by combination of flight and taxi from Erbil to Baghdad takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In June in Baghdad, expect temperatures between 48°C during the day and 30°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sun) so you can go by car to Karbala.

Karbala is a city in central Iraq, located about 100km southwest of Baghdad, and a few miles east of Lake Milh. Start off your visit on the 17th (Mon): don't miss a visit to Shrine of the two sons of Muslim Ibn Aqeel, take in the spiritual surroundings of Al Abbas Holy Shrine, then make a trip to Imam Hussain's Shrine, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Tal Al Zainabeiah site.
