You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Get some cultural insight at Esztergom Basilica / Cathedral and Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum. Get in touch with nature at Margaret Island and Danube River. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Budapest: Erzsebet Park (in Godollo), Maconka Reserve (in Batonyterenye) and Esztergom (Balassa Balint Museum & Statue of Ferenc Liszt). There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Liberty Statue, step into the grandiose world of Vajdahunyad Castle (Vajdahunyadvar), indulge your taste buds at Food & Drink, and see the interesting displays at Miniversum Budapest.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Budapest is an approximately 5- hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or drive. Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Amsterdam in July: highs in Budapest hover around 33°C, while lows dip to 18°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 8th (Wed) early enough to catch the train to Veszprem.

Start off your visit on the 9th (Thu): go for a walk through Soos Mountain, don't miss a visit to Koronazo Square, take in the spiritual surroundings of Szekesfehervar - Our Lady - John of Nepomuk Parish Church, then see the interesting displays at Hetedhet Toy museum, then explore the historical opulence of Nadasdy - Kastely​, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Ruins of the Pauline Monastery. Keep things going the next day: explore the world behind art at Gizella Chapel, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint George Chapel, don't miss a visit to Heroes' Gate, then grab your bike and head to Intersport Ski Arena Epleny, Bike Arena, and finally kick back and relax at Wesselenyi Beach Balatonalmadi.

Traveling by train from Budapest to Veszprem takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Budapest in July, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Veszprem, with lows around 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Heviz.

You can drive from Veszprem to Heviz in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Veszprem in July, expect little chillier with lows of 18°C in Heviz. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Gyula.
