Well-known for the beautiful views of its famous Promenade des Anglais waterfront, Nice is an ethnically-diverse coastal port city on the French Riviera and the fifth most populated city in France.
Step off the beaten path and head to Saint-Paul de Vence and Villa & Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild. Get outdoors at Lérins Islands and Scuba & Snorkeling. Go for a jaunt from Nice to Biot to see Galerie Gabel about 32 minutes away. There's lots more to do: get to know the fascinating history of Vieille Ville, stroll the grounds of Cimetiere du Chateau, and enjoy the sand and surf at Coco Beach.

Kick off your visit on the 16th (Tue): tour the pleasant surroundings at Le Sentier des Ocres, explore the ancient world of Roman Theatre of Orange, then sample the fine beverages at Distillerie A. Blachere, and finally step into the grandiose world of Palais des Papes. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the views from Pont d'Avignon, then steep yourself in history at Chateau des Baux de Provence, then admire the masterpieces at Carrieres des Lumieres, and finally explore the ancient world of Amphitheatre (les Arenes).
