London is known for museums, nightlife, historic sites, shopping, and parks. Situated on the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, York has witnessed an abundance of major political events throughout its two millennia of existence.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Fri): go for a walk through York City Walls, then admire the striking features of York Minster, then get your game on at Yorkshire Activity Centre, and finally get engrossed in the history at National Railway Museum. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 12th (Sat): see the interesting displays at Jorvik Viking Centre, examine the collection at York Castle Museum, then indulge your thirst for a good beer at Brew York, and finally admire the striking features of York Shambles.

You can take a train from London to York in 2 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight, bus, and train; or drive. In October, plan for daily highs up to 59°F, and evening lows to 45°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sat) so you can go by car to Ambleside.

Ambleside is a town in Cumbria, in North West England. Venture out of the city with trips to Predator Experience (in Ayside) and Alpacaly Ever After (in Portinscale).
