The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.
Schonbrunn Palace and Belvedere Palace will appeal to history buffs. Head to Vienna Naschmarkt and Donau Zentrumfor plenty of shopping. And it doesn't end there: explore the world behind art at Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Stephen's Cathedral, get a new perspective on nature at Natural History Museum (Naturhistorisches Museum), and stop by Uppers & Downers Store.

Shop till you drop at Getreidegasse and Christmas in Salzburg. Get a sense of the local culture at Fortress Hohensalzburg Castle and Schloss Hellbrunn. Step out of Salzburg with an excursion to Gollinger Wasserfall in Golling an der Salzach--about 34 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: get engrossed in the history at Mozarts Geburtshaus, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Franziskanerkirche, admire the striking features of Salzburg Cathedral, and see the interesting displays at Salzburg Museum.

Kitzbühel is a small medieval town situated along the river Kitzbuhler Ache in Tyrol, Austria and the administrative centre of the Kitzbühel district. Start off your visit on the 12th (Tue): take in the awesome beauty at Kitzsteinhorn and then get outside with Sigmund-Thun-Klamm. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: tee off at Golf Eichenheim and then admire nature's wide array of creatures at Wildpark Aurach.

Visiting Grawa Wasserfall and Serlesbahnen will get you outdoors. Schloss Ambras Innsbruck and The Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl) will appeal to museum buffs. Step out of Innsbruck to go to Seefeld in Tirol and see Olympiabad Seefeld, which is approximately 32 minutes away. The adventure continues: hit the slopes at Rosshutte, look for gifts at Cafe Cardinal, walk around Hofgarten, and learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Alpenzoo.
