Winnipeg

— 11 nights

Gateway to the West

At the confluence of two rivers, Winnipeg started out as a small trading post in an area inhabited by indigenous tribes for thousands of years before the European arrival.
Get out of town with these interesting Winnipeg side-trips: Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site (in St. Andrews), Mennonite Heritage Village (in Steinbach) and St Andrew's Lock and Dam (in Lockport). There's much more to do: see the sky in a new way at Manitoba Museum, take in nature's colorful creations at Assiniboine Park, indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, and see the interesting displays at Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

If you are flying in from The Netherlands, the closest major aiport is Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. In May, daytime highs in Winnipeg are 20°C, while nighttime lows are 8°C.
