Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to North Hobart and Constitution Dock. Change things up with a short trip to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton (about 30 minutes away). And it doesn't end there: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, do a tasting at Moorilla Estate Winery, snap pictures at Tasman Bridge, and take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.

Canberra to Hobart is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of bus, train, and ferry. While traveling from Canberra, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Hobart, ranging from highs of 26°C to lows of 14°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sun) so you can go by car to Port Arthur.
