Santiago tourism thrives largely thanks to the city's big selection of cultural and entertainment options, including museums, theaters, restaurants, bars, and giant malls.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to River Rafting & Tubing and Kingston Family Vineyards. Your inner history buff will appreciate Santuario de la Inmaculada Concepcion and Templo Baha'i. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Santiago: Vina Undurraga (in Talagante) and Vina Santa Rita (in Buin). There's much more to do: wander the streets of Barrio Italia, learn about winemaking at Santa Carolina, explore the historical opulence of Castillo Hidalgo, and steep yourself in history at Centro Cultural Palacio de la Moneda y Plaza de la Ciudadania.

Sao Paulo, Brazil to Santiago is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Sao Paulo to Santiago. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Sun) early enough to travel to Mendoza.

Famed for its neat vineyards and thriving wine production, Mendoza remains the place to visit for a pleasant combination of relaxation and recreation.
Step off the beaten path and head to River Rafting & Tubing and Food Tours. Step out of Mendoza with an excursion to Casa El Enemigo in Maipu--about 38 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: do a tasting at Bodega Roberto Bonfanti and stroll through Los Pingos Horse Riding.

Traveling by combination of bus and flight from Santiago to Mendoza takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Chile Time to Argentine Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. In January in Mendoza, expect temperatures between 38°C during the day and 23°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Thu) early enough to travel to Buenos Aires.

Cultural capital of South America, Buenos Aires remains one of the largest cities on the continent, serving as a point of departure for exploring the rest of the country.
Escape the urban bustle at Horseback Riding Tours and Delta El Tigre. Your inner history buff will appreciate Catedral de la Plata and Basilica del Santisimo Sacramento. Change things up with these side-trips from Buenos Aires: Basilica de Lujan (in Lujan) and San Isidro (Villa Ocampo & Catedral de San Isidro). When traveling from Mendoza in January, plan for little chillier days in Buenos Aires, with highs around 33°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
